It still amazes me how uncomfortable people get around cameras. Especially people in food service- must be the food critic‘s fault.

After Jules and I were done wandering around Privateer Day in Fells Point, we decided to meet up with a friend that actually introduced us to each other. Richard was with his girlfriend Lauren and they were also meeting a couple for dinner so we decided on Heavy Seas Alehouse for dinner. Located in the same building as Mustang Alley’s, Heavy Seas Alehouse is a very recent opening. Hugh even mentioned something about it when Jules and I took our tour way back when of Heavy Seas Brewery.

Naturally, Jules and I wanted to try the food here before we move across the country. After a sizable wait, which was made better by trying a new Heavy Seas Brew, we got a booth in the main room.

Without a doubt, the decor is very “Baltimore“. Exposed brick abounds, and dark wood accents highlights the brick’s texture. Plus, Heavy Seas is a Baltimore beer- so it’s a great representation of the charm and heritage of Baltimore.

The menu was very local, both in types of dishes and sourcing of the ingredients. While the prices were a little more than I anticipated, the quality of food made it more than worth the price.

The food was amazingly delicious! If I could move in there and eat their food all the time, I totally would. It was that good! Even the dessert was a wonderful treat.

As a going away treat, they serve cookies made with spent grain from the beer making process. Beer cookies! I’m going let that sink it for a bit… (They did not taste like beer- Oatmeal if I remember correctly). I applaud them for sourcing locally as possible and reusing products of the beer making process. I highly recommend you take a visit to Heavy Seas Alehouse- you won’t be disappointed!

The cookies wouldn’t taste like beer, they’d taste like grain, at most. You’re forgetting the rest of the ingredients that go into beer to make it taste like beer!
Good point! I didn’t think about that.
Ok… now I’m hungry. Thanks.
